Your pumpkin bread is my favorite weekday breakfast with a cup of Tazo Awake tea! I usually have to hide the pumpkin bread, else my kiddos will eat the WHOLE loaf! Weekends is scrambled eggs and toast with plenty o' bacon :)

Chapter Two Giveaway ($25.00 Starbucks Card)

The second chapter of my book is dedicated to breakfast foods: pancakes, waffles, coffee cake. You know, yummy baked treats that we tend to eat in the morning. (Although more than one person has told me my tradition pancakes make for a quick and delicious supper.)

In honor of the second chapter, today's contest celebrates breakfast!

If selected, you win a $25.00 Starbucks Gift Card.
(Did you know Starbucks, starting today, is offering a gluten-free cake?)

In the comments, tell me what you like to have for breakfast. Be sure to leave a way for me to get in contact with you! I will pick one winner at random from the comments.

Good luck!
Elizabeth

PS: If you haven't bought my book, what are you waiting for? :) You can make lots of fantastic breakfasts and other goodies. Here is the link: Easy Gluten-Free Baking

Old Fashioned Gluten-Free Doughnuts

I live in what feels like the heart of apple country. We are surrounded by fantastic apple orchards. My husband (who seems to live out the "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" adage) and I head out to a farm stand/apple orchard every few weeks to stock up on yummy apples. This farm stand also sells Old Fashioned doughnuts and Apple Cider Doughnuts.

One day while wandering around the farm stand the smell of freshly made doughnuts almost did me in! I headed home determined to make a great batch of gluten-free doughnuts. Well, the perfect Old Fashioned doughnut alluded me! I kept trying. And I kept producing doughnuts that were either heavy or bland or, worse yet, heavy AND bland.

Then one day, while making buttermilk pancakes, I thought, "What would happen if I used buttermilk in my doughnut recipe?" Well, it made all the difference in the world. The doughnuts were moist and tender. Perfect really!

As soon as they come out of the fryer, roll them in cinnamon sugar. Heaven! I really believe that little tastes as wonderful as a freshly made doughnut.

Now, I will be honest with you, the next day these doughnuts aren't as ethereal. I've found that popping them into the microwave for 10 seconds bring them right back. Although, they really are still delicious cold!

For the recipe, visit my site, http://www.glutenfreebaking.com/members/716.cfm

It is a member recipe. So, members, get ready to make some wonderful doughnuts!

Doughnuts Today

I have been working on a doughnut recipe FOREVER! Okay, not forever but it feels like it.

After many attempts, I have created a fantastic "old fashioned" doughnut. Honestly, this is the best doughnut I have had--gluten-free or not!

I'll be posting the recipe on the site this afternoon.

Think you can wait 'til then?

Chapter One GIVEAWAY!

I *know* I was supposed to post this yesterday! But I didn't! Sorry about that. I taught a gluten-free bread class in Lake George. My day was hectic getting ready for the class.

So, let's get this giveaway going!

My new book begins with "The Basics." I called the first chapter, The Basics, for a reason! In the chapter I talk about ingredients, how to measure, kitchen tools and how to stock a gluten-free kitchen!

This giveaway is inspired by "The Basics". You will win the following amazing baking gift package:

Included in the package:

TWO of my favorite baking pans!

A package of rainbow cupcake liners

A wooden spatula (God, I love these things! I use them all the time!)

A new set of mixing bowls.

To win, you have to answer a question!

The "basics" I need for a successful book are stores that carry the book. This way, gluten-free bakers can find the book.

In the comment section, leave the name (and location) of a bookstore, health food store, etc. that you think should carry my new book.(If they have a web site, you can just leave the web address!)One rule: Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble don't count ;)

Along with it, be sure to leave your e-mail address. This way, if you win, I will know how to reach you!

The giveaway ends on May 1st! And remember, one winner will receive everything listed above!

Good luck! (I will select the winner at random.)

ETA: I have comments on moderation. It might take a little while for me to approve your comment but, I promise, I will!

ETA Take 2: Remember to post your e-mail addy or some way for me to get in contact with you!
